FRANCK DESIRE
HAITI
VOICE, HAITIAN DRUM...
Franck Désiré is a Haitian musician and cultural practitioner, born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
After leaving Haiti at the age of nineteen, he lived and worked in the United States while supporting Haitian immigrant communities and young people navigating life between cultures. He later returned to Haiti, where he founded ASAKIVLE, a community-based cultural initiative rooted in music, education, and collective life.
As a singer, drummer, and tradition bearer, Désiré performs Haitian roots (Rasin) music and shares knowledge of Haitian history, language, and Vodou traditions. Through performances, workshops, and cultural exchanges, he seeks to build understanding across cultures and challenge misconceptions about Haiti and Vodou.
Since his first visit to Japan in 2024, he has collaborated with musicians, students, and communities throughout the country, developing ongoing cultural projects between Haiti and Japan.
